Cervera is a historic Danish food brand with roots dating back to 1916. The company was founded by César Fernandez Cervera, a Spaniard from Galicia who settled in Copenhagen during World War I and began producing Mediterranean-influenced specialties. This particular Gourmet Tomato Ketchup with coarsely chopped onions is a signature product that reflects the brand's long tradition of artisanal production.

Today, the manufacturing is centered at Kløvergaard in Rødding, South Jutland, a former dairy facility that Cervera converted into a production plant in 1971. The brand remains an independent Danish entity, focusing on specialty vegetable-based products and niche delicacies like pickled vegetables and sauces, often still following the original recipes created by its founder. Unlike the Swedish retail chain of the same name (which focuses on kitchenware), the Danish Cervera brand is a dedicated food producer that has remained family-owned or under independent Danish management since its inception.
