Lauki dairy products

Lauki is a historic Spanish dairy brand founded in 1958 in Valladolid, Spain. Originally known as Central Lechera Vallisoletana, the brand became famous for its innovation in dairy packaging, particularly for being a pioneer in introducing the 'brik' (carton) format in the Spanish market. Its name, 'Lauki', actually means 'square' or 'box' in Basque, reflecting this revolutionary packaging shift that allowed for better preservation and storage of milk products.

Over the decades, the brand underwent various ownership changes as the global dairy industry consolidated. In the early 2000s, it was acquired by the French multinational Lactalis. Although the original manufacturing plant in Valladolid was closed in 2016 as part of a restructuring efforts by the parent company, the Lauki brand survives today and remains a household name in Spain. Currently, the production of Lauki products continues within the Spanish territory across other facilities operated by the Lactalis Group, maintaining its longstanding presence in the domestic market.
