Over the years, ownership of the brand shifted through various corporate acquisitions. It was part of the portfolio of the American giant Sara Lee before becoming part of the joint venture DE Master Blenders 1753. Today, Pilão is owned by JDE Peet's (Jacobs Douwe Egberts Peet's), a global specialized coffee and tea company headquartered in the Netherlands.

While the brand's core roasted and ground coffee is primarily produced in Brazil to serve the local market, their aluminum espresso capsules are part of a global supply chain. These capsules, which are compatible with Nespresso machines, are often manufactured in specialized European facilities (such as in France or the Netherlands) due to the advanced technology required for aluminum capsule production, or locally in Brazil depending on the specific production run and facility updates.
