Hyundai Kona Hybrid

The Hyundai Kona Hybrid is a popular subcompact crossover SUV produced by the South Korean multinational manufacturer, Hyundai Motor Company. Originally launched in 2017, the Kona was named after the Kona district of Hawaiʻi, following Hyundai's tradition of naming its crossover models after world-renowned travel destinations. The hybrid variant was introduced to offer a balance of efficiency and urban versatility, integrating a gasoline engine with an electric motor.

Production of the Kona Hybrid is geographically diverse to serve global markets effectively. The primary manufacturing hub is Hyundai's Ulsan plant in South Korea, which is recognized as one of the world's largest integrated automobile manufacturing facilities. For the North American and Asian markets, vehicles are predominantly sourced from this South Korean facility. In contrast, while the pure electric version (Kona Electric) is famously produced in the Czech Republic for European consumers, hybrid and internal combustion units for certain world regions may also involve assembly lines in Vietnam and other international facilities.
