Though its name was inspired by the Swiss municipality of Breil/Brigels to evoke a sense of precision and watchmaking pedigree, the brand is fundamentally Italian. It gained international fame through its avant-garde designs and provocative marketing campaigns, most notably the 'Don’t Touch My Breil' slogan which became a cultural phenomenon in the 1990s.

Manufacturing typically takes place in various locations, including Italy for design and specialized assembly, and the Far East for high-volume production of its steel jewelry and entry-level timepieces.

Owned and managed by the Binda family for generations, the group oversees the entire lifecycle of the brand from design to global distribution, maintaining Breil's position as a leader in 'steel-wear' fashion.
