Taylors Eye Witness is a legendary British brand with a heritage stretching back to 1838. Founded by John Taylor in Sheffield, the 'City of Steel,' the brand is famous for its 'Eye Witness' trademark—a symbol of quality inspired by Shakespeare's Henry IV. For over 150 years, the company operated out of the historic Grade II listed Eye Witness Works on Milton Street, becoming one of the last traditional manufacturers to remain in the heart of Sheffield.

In 1975, the business was acquired by Harrison Fisher & Co, which eventually adopted the Taylors Eye Witness name for the entire group. In 2018, the company moved to a modern, purpose-built headquarters and production facility in Sheffield to improve efficiency. While the brand remains deeply rooted in British manufacturing—producing many of its premium pocket knives and kitchen blades by hand in Sheffield—it also sources some product ranges globally to maintain a diverse catalog of kitchenware and accessories. As of February 2025, the company has transitioned to being an employee-owned business through an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), ensuring its future independence and commitment to its local workforce.
