Heinrich Haeberlein is a prestigious name in the world of German gingerbread, specifically the world-renowned Nürnberger Lebkuchen. The brand's history is deeply rooted in the city of Nuremberg, dating back to 1846 when Heinrich Haeberlein took over his father-in-law's bakery. Haeberlein's innovation transformed a small artisanal operation into a pioneering industrial force, eventually earning the title of Royal Bavarian and Imperial Austrian Court Provider.

In 1920, the company merged with another historic baker, F.G. Metzger (whose roots track back to 1598), to form the Haeberlein-Metzger AG. This entity became a cornerstone of Nuremberg's confectionery industry, known for its intricate, collectible lithographed tins like the 'Lebkuchen-Express' truck seen here.
