TDC, historically known as Tele Danmark Communications, is the leading telecommunications provider in Denmark. The company's roots date back to 1882 with the founding of Kjøbenhavns Telefon Aktieselskab (KTAS). Throughout the 20th century, the Danish state consolidated various regional telephone companies into a national monopoly, which was eventually privatized in the late 1990s.
In recent years, the company underwent a major structural split into two separate entities: TDC NET, which manages the physical network infrastructure, and Nuuday, which handles customer-facing services and brands (such as YouSee, Telmore, and TDC Erhverv). The brand is currently owned by a consortium led by Macquarie Asset Management and several prominent Danish pension funds, including PFA and PKA. This ownership structure ensures that the company remains deeply integrated into the Danish digital landscape while benefiting from international infrastructure investment expertise.
