The brand's history dates back to 1634, when it was founded by the Paulaner monks at the Neudeck ob der Au monastery in Munich. Over centuries, it transitioned from a monastic endeavor to a commercial powerhouse. In the modern era, ownership is structured through a joint venture: the Schörghuber Corporate Group holds a 70% majority stake, while the global beverage giant Heineken International holds the remaining 30%. This partnership allows Paulaner to maintain its regional Bavarian identity while benefiting from a massive international distribution network, reaching over 80 countries.
