Le Sieur Tender Peas

Le Sieur is a prestigious brand of canned vegetables rooted in a century of agricultural history. Originally established in 1903 as the Minnesota Valley Canning Company in the town of Le Sueur, Minnesota, the brand was later renamed to Green Giant. While the U.S. counterpart retains the name 'Le Sueur' (after the French explorer Pierre-Charles Le Sueur), the brand has been marketed as 'Le Sieur' in Canada since the 1960s to avoid the phonetic similarity to the French word for sweat.

For decades, the brand was part of the General Mills portfolio before being sold to B&G Foods in 2015. In a major shift toward local food sovereignty, the Canadian rights to Le Sieur were acquired in late 2025 by Nortera (formerly Bonduelle Americas), a Quebec-based food processor. While the brand remains under different ownership in the United States, the Le Sieur products found in Canadian stores are now both Canadian-owned and locally produced. The vegetables are grown by over 400 local Canadian producers and processed at facilities in Ontario, Alberta, and Quebec, ensuring that the supply chain remains deeply rooted in Canadian soil.
