The brand traces its roots back to 1877 when the Quaker Mill Company was founded in Ravenna, Ohio, by Henry Parsons Crowell. It became a pioneer in the food industry by securing the first-ever registered trademark for a breakfast cereal and introducing innovative packaging like the famous cylindrical canister.

Today, the brand is owned by the global food and beverage giant PepsiCo, following a landmark $14 billion acquisition in 2001. While PepsiCo was primarily motivated by the acquisition of Gatorade (which Quaker owned at the time), Quaker remains a cornerstone of the company's nutrition and snack portfolio.

Manufacturing takes place in multiple countries to serve global markets. The world's largest cereal mill is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, while other major facilities are situated in Illinois and Missouri in the United States.
