ASICS performance shoes

ASICS is a globally recognized Japanese sportswear brand with a rich history rooted in post-World War II Japan. The company was founded in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka as Onitsuka Co., Ltd. in Kobe, Japan. Onitsuka's mission was to promote physical health and improve the morale of Japanese youth through sports, leading to the creation of the brand's first product: a basketball shoe. In 1977, Onitsuka Co. merged with GTO Co. and JELENK Co. to form the modern ASICS Corporation. The name ASICS is an acronym for the Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which translates to "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body."

Today, ASICS remains a publicly traded Japanese multinational corporation headquartered in Kobe. While the brand carries deep Japanese heritage and continues to manufacture some premium products in Japan (specifically in Tottori and at its Kobe headquarters), the vast majority of its footwear and apparel is produced across an extensive global supply chain. Key manufacturing hubs include Vietnam, Indonesia, China, and Cambodia, where the brand leverages specialized factories to produce its high-performance running shoes and lifestyle sneakers. The brand continues to be a subsidiary of ASICS Corporation, operating through various regional entities like ASICS America and ASICS Europe to manage its global distribution and marketing.
