In the 1970s, the company pivoted to focus exclusively on running, pioneering technical innovations like the use of EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) in midsoles.

Today, Brooks operates as a high-performance running specialist. While the design and engineering take place at its global headquarters in Seattle, Washington, the manufacturing is outsourced to specialized facilities. Most Brooks shoes are produced in Vietnam, which accounts for the majority of their volume, followed by Indonesia and other locations like El Salvador and Taiwan. Since 2006, the brand has been a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, the multinational conglomerate led by Warren Buffett and succeeded by Greg Abel.
