Hoka, originally established as Hoka One One, was founded in 2009 in Annecy, France, by Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard. The brand revolutionized the running industry by introducing 'maximalist' footwear, featuring oversized midsoles that offer superior cushioning and stability compared to traditional minimalist designs. In 2013, the brand was acquired by Deckers Outdoor Corporation, which facilitated its transition from a niche French startup to a global footwear powerhouse.

While the research, design, and performance testing for Hoka products are conducted at its global headquarters in Goleta, California, the physical manufacturing of the Men's Rincon 4 and other models is outsourced to specialized third-party factories in Asia. Vietnam and China serve as the primary manufacturing hubs due to their advanced technical expertise in high-performance athletic footwear and established supply chains for materials like EVA foam. Additional production facilities are distributed across Cambodia, the Dominican Republic, and the Philippines to diversify the supply chain and manage global demand.
