Clipper Organic Black Tea

Clipper Teas is a prominent British tea brand founded in 1984 by Mike and Lorraine Brehme in their kitchen in Beaminster, Dorset. The brand was established with a focus on ethical sourcing and natural production, famously becoming the UK's first Fairtrade tea brand in 1994. It is also credited with launching the world's first plastic-free, unbleached, and non-GM tea bags.

While the raw ingredients (tea leaves) are sourced internationally from estates in India, Africa, and Sri Lanka to ensure high quality and Fairtrade standards, all Clipper tea products are blended and manufactured at their dedicated factory in Beaminster, Dorset. This facility produces over a billion tea bags annually for export to over 50 countries.

In 2012, the company was acquired by Royal Wessanen, a Dutch specialist in healthy and sustainable food. Royal Wessanen subsequently rebranded as Ecotone in 2020 and is now headquartered in Lyon, France. As of 2026, Clipper continues to operate as a core brand under Ecotone, maintaining its B Corp status and commitment to biodiversity and ethical production.
