DHL logistics and express services

DHL is a premier global logistics provider and a major division of the German conglomerate DHL Group (formerly Deutsche Post DHL Group). The brand was originally founded in 1969 in San Francisco, California, by Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom, and Robert Lynn, whose initials form the company name. Initially focused on delivering shipping documents by air to speed up the customs process for cargo, the company rapidly expanded into a worldwide express network.

Throughout the late 20th century, DHL established itself as a leader in international express shipping. In 1998, the German national postal service, Deutsche Post, began acquiring shares in the company, eventually reaching full ownership by late 2002. This acquisition transformed DHL from an American-founded startup into a core part of Germany's logistics infrastructure.

Today, DHL operates in over 220 countries and territories. While its global headquarters are located in Bonn, Germany, its operations are truly decentralized with major hubs in Leipzig, Cincinnati, and Hong Kong.
