innocent drinks was founded in 1998 by three friends, Richard Reed, Adam Balon, and Jon Wright, after testing their recipes at a music festival in London. The brand quickly became iconic for its playful branding and commitment to 100% natural ingredients. In 2013, The Coca-Cola Company completed a phased acquisition to become the majority owner, holding over 90% of the business.

Historically, production was centered in the UK, but the company has since shifted its European manufacturing strategy. In 2021, they opened a massive carbon-neutral facility called 'The Blender' in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This site now handles the majority of the brand's blending and bottling for the European market, including Sweden, to reduce transportation emissions and improve sustainability. While some production might still occur in other regional hubs, the Netherlands is now the primary manufacturing home for their chilled juices and smoothies.
