Galaxy Button Lights app

Galaxy Button Lights is a mobile software application specifically designed for older Samsung Galaxy devices to manage the backlight behavior of the physical capacitive buttons. Unlike a physical consumer good, its 'manufacturing' refers to the software development process, which was spearheaded by independent developer 'NotQuiteInsane'.

The app provides users with the ability to toggle the button backlight duration, override system defaults, or keep them permanently off—a feature often missing from the standard Android system settings on earlier Samsung models like the S6 and S7. While the software itself is digital, it is deeply tied to the hardware infrastructure of Samsung Electronics, a South Korean conglomerate. Samsung produces the compatible handsets primarily in South Korea, Vietnam, and India.

Starting from late 2025 and into 2026, many of these legacy features have become obsolete as smartphones transitioned to on-screen navigation, yet the app remains a notable tool for owners of vintage Galaxy hardware. It exists as an independent utility and is not an official Samsung product, though it is synonymous with the brand's device ecosystem.
