Treets Peanuts is a confectionery brand with a long history, originally introduced in the 1960s by Mars Limited in the United Kingdom and across Europe. For decades, it was a staple sweet known for its 'melt in your mouth, not in your hand' slogan. However, Mars discontinued the brand in 1988, replacing it with M&M's. After the trademark rights lapsed in 2017, the brand was revitalized and acquired by the German Katjes Group.
The modern version of Treets, specifically the vegan peanut variety shown, represents a sustainable evolution of the classic candy. These are produced in Germany by Piasten GmbH, a subsidiary of Katjes International. This specific product is a collaboration with Planet A Foods, utilizing 'ChoViva'—a cocoa-free chocolate alternative made from fermented sunflower seeds and grape flours. This choice significantly reduces the carbon footprint compared to traditional chocolate and aligns with contemporary consumer interest in plant-based and eco-friendly snacking.
