Halba is a distinguished Swiss chocolate brand with a long heritage dating back to its founding in 1933 by Willy Hallheimer and Werner Baer in Zurich. Originally operating as Halba AG, the company began as a small-scale production in a private apartment before growing into a significant industrial force. In the early 1970s, the brand was fully integrated into the Coop Group, one of Switzerland's largest retail and wholesale organizations.
Today, Halba is famous for its 'bean to bar' production philosophy, ensuring every step of the manufacturing process—from sourcing raw cocoa beans to the final packaging—is managed by the company. All of its chocolate products are developed and manufactured exclusively in Switzerland, primarily at their modern production facility in Pratteln. The brand places a heavy emphasis on sustainability, with 100% of its cocoa beans being Fairtrade certified. Ownership remains with the Coop Group, which manages Halba as a dedicated manufacturing division that supplies both Coop's own retail network and international B2B partners.
