Nature's Way was established in 1969 by Tom Murdock in the United States, specifically in Arizona and later Utah, following his successful use of traditional Native American herbal knowledge to support his wife's health. The brand became a pioneer in the American herbal supplement industry, being one of the first to implement standardization in herbal products and earn third-party Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification.

Today, the brand operates its primary state-of-the-art manufacturing, distribution, and testing facilities in Green Bay, Wisconsin. While the final products are largely manufactured in the United States, the company sources high-quality botanical ingredients from a global network of suppliers, which includes owning specialized farms like ginkgo plantations in France and China. In 2003, Nature's Way was acquired by the Schwabe Group, a German pharmaceutical giant with a history dating back over 150 years. Under this ownership, the brand has expanded its global footprint, offering a wide portfolio that includes well-known lines such as Alive! multivitamins, Sambucus elderberry products, and Fortify probiotics.
