Trident Audio Developments (TRIAD) is a legendary name in the professional audio industry, famously born from the iconic Trident Studios in London. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, engineers at Trident Studios—including Malcolm Toft and Barry Porter—could not find a mixing console that met their specific needs for multi-track recording. This led them to design and build their own, resulting in the famed Trident A-Range console. The success of this design was so significant that it sparked the formation of Trident Audio Developments as a standalone manufacturing company in 1972.

Throughout the 1970s and 80s, Trident consoles became the backbone of some of the most influential music in history, used by artists like The Beatles, David Bowie, Queen, and Elton John. The brand became synonymous with a specific 'British Sound' characterized by its musical equalizers and preamps. After a period of industry shifts and corporate changes in the 1990s, the brand was eventually acquired by the PMI Audio Group in the late 2000s.

Today, under the ownership of PMI Audio Group, Trident Audio Developments continues to produce high-end analog consoles, 500-series modules, and rack gear. While the creative and historical roots remain firmly in the United Kingdom, modern production and corporate management are centered in California, USA. The current product lineup, such as the Series 88, 78, and 68 consoles, leverages the brand's vintage legacy while utilizing global manufacturing workflows to maintain accessibility for modern professional and home studios.
