Teva shoes

Teva was born in the Grand Canyon in 1982 when river guide Mark Thatcher created the world's first sport sandal by attaching two Velcro watch straps to a pair of old flip-flops to prevent them from floating away. This innovation birthed a new category of footwear designed for aquatic and outdoor adventures. Originally produced under a licensing agreement with California Pacific, Thatcher later regained control and founded his own company in Flagstaff, Arizona, before entering a long-term partnership with Deckers Brands (then Deckers Outdoor Corporation).

In 2002, Deckers Brands officially acquired all worldwide patents and trademarks for the Teva brand. Under Deckers' ownership, Teva has evolved from a niche rafting sandal into a global outdoor lifestyle icon, offering a wide range of sandals, hiking boots, and casual footwear.

Manufacturing for Teva products is primarily conducted in Asia, with factories located in China, Vietnam, and Cambodia to leverage specialized footwear production expertise. Today, Teva remains a core subsidiary of Deckers Brands, alongside other well-known names like UGG and HOKA, and continues to be headquartered in Goleta, California.
