The brand's journey began unexpectedly when a wholesale order of garden stones was topped up with artist canvases to fill a shipping container. These canvases sold rapidly, leading the family to pivot their business entirely toward art supplies. While the brand's creative direction, quality assurance, and design are managed in Australia, manufacturing is primarily handled in China. In 2009, the company established Mont Marte Global as a joint venture in Anhui province, China, to streamline production and global distribution.
