AGF Blendy coffee

Blendy is one of Japan's most recognizable and successful coffee brands, known for its extensive range of instant, bottled, and stick-type coffee products. The brand was first introduced in 1977 by Ajinomoto General Foods (AGF) and quickly became a household name due to its high-quality taste profile and innovative convenience. Over the decades, Blendy has pioneered several formats in the Japanese market, including the first 900ml bottled coffee in 1988 and the widely popular 'stick' coffee format in 2002.

The brand utilizes a patented roasting technology known as 'T2ACMI Roasting,' which is specifically designed to balance aroma and flavor while minimizing bitterness and sourness, catering to Japanese consumer preferences. While the raw coffee beans are sourced internationally from regions like Brazil and Vietnam, the production and roasting process are carried out in domestic factories within Japan, primarily at plants in Mie and Gunma Prefectures.

Originally a joint venture between the Japanese company Ajinomoto Co., Inc. and the American company General Foods, the brand underwent a significant ownership change in 2015. Ajinomoto Co., Inc. acquired General Foods' stake, making AGF a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ajinomoto Group. In 2017, the company was renamed Ajinomoto AGF, Inc., which continues to manage the brand today.
