Nets is a leading provider of digital payment services with a strong presence in the Nordic and Baltic regions. Founded in 1968 in Denmark as PBS (Pengeinstitutternes BetalingsSystemer), the company has been a cornerstone of the Danish and European financial infrastructure for decades, developing essential systems like Dankort and NemID.

In recent years, the company underwent significant structural changes. After being taken private by Hellman & Friedman in 2018, it merged with the German merchant-service provider Concardis. The most pivotal transformation occurred in 2021 when Nets was acquired by the Italian payment giant Nexi. This merger created Europe's largest payments firm, combining Nets' strong Nordic foothold with Nexi's leadership in the Mediterranean region. Today, Nets operates as an integral subsidiary of the Nexi Group, continuing to drive innovation in digital transactions and payment security across Europe.
