PepsiCo’s facility in Coventry, which is recognised as Europe’s largest tortilla chip factory, has been the home of UK production since the brand's British launch in 1994.

The history of Doritos began in the early 1960s at 'Casa de Fritos' in Disneyland, California. The snack was created by repurposing surplus tortillas, which were seasoned and fried. Recognising their commercial potential, Frito-Lay vice president Arch West moved production in-house, leading to a nationwide U.S. launch in 1966.

Today, the brand is owned by PepsiCo through its Frito-Lay subsidiary. PepsiCo is a global food and beverage leader headquartered in the United States. In the UK, the brand is managed under the PepsiCo UK & Ireland division, which also oversees other iconic snack brands like Walkers.
