Elgin is a traditional Brazilian company founded in 1952 in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo. Initially famous for its iconic sewing machines, the brand has significantly diversified its portfolio over the decades to include air conditioning, office automation, lighting, and home appliances like coffee makers.
While Elgin maintains a strong manufacturing presence in Brazil, particularly with a large industrial unit in Manaus (Free Trade Zone), many of its small portable appliances, such as the Coffee Break line of coffee makers, are manufactured in China through partnerships or dedicated production facilities to maintain competitive pricing in the entry-level market. The brand is still owned and managed by the founding Feder family (Grupo Elgin), remaining a purely Brazilian-owned enterprise despite its global supply chain.
