Viba Nougat Classic

Viba Nougat Classic is a traditional hazelnut-based confectionery originating from Thuringia, Germany. The brand's history dates back to 1893, when master confectioner Willy Viebahn and his sister Anna Reim opened a cafe in Schmalkalden. The iconic hazelnut nougat recipe, which remains largely unchanged, was introduced in 1920. Throughout the 20th century, the company navigated through various political shifts, including a period of state ownership in the former East Germany under the name VEB Nouma.

Following the reunification of Germany, the company was reprivatized in 1992 and eventually rebranded as Viba sweets GmbH. Today, it stands as a market leader in the German hazelnut nougat segment. Production is localized in a state-of-the-art facility in Floh-Seligenthal, near its historical roots in Schmalkalden. The brand has expanded significantly in recent years, acquiring traditional retailers like Hussel, arko, and Eilles in 2024 to bolster its physical presence across Germany.
