Otrivin med mentol nasal spray

Otrivin is a globally recognized nasal health brand, originally launched in 1956 by the Swiss company Ciba (which later became part of Ciba-Geigy and eventually Novartis). The 'med mentol' (with menthol) variant is a popular formulation containing xylometazoline hydrochloride, designed for rapid relief from nasal congestion.

Historically, the brand was a cornerstone of the Novartis consumer health portfolio. Following a series of major corporate restructurings, it became part of a joint venture between GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Novartis, and later between GSK and Pfizer. In July 2022, GSK spun off its consumer healthcare division into an independent, publicly traded company called Haleon.

Today, Otrivin is owned and managed by Haleon, which is headquartered in the United Kingdom and remains the ultimate owner through 2026 and beyond. While the brand has Swiss origins, it is manufactured in multiple specialized pharmaceutical facilities worldwide, including locations in Switzerland, Germany, and India, to supply various regional markets.
