Corriere della Sera is Italy's leading daily newspaper and a cornerstone of the country's national media. Founded on March 5, 1876, in Milan by Eugenio Torelli Viollier, it was initially conceived as an evening paper but later shifted to a morning distribution while retaining its historic name. Over its long history, the publication has established itself as the Italian 'newspaper of record,' widely respected for its coverage of national politics, economy, and culture.

The newspaper is printed and published in Italy, with its historic headquarters famously located on Via Solferino in Milan. Since the 1970s, ownership has transitioned from the founding interests and the Crespi family to the Rizzoli group, which eventually evolved into RCS MediaGroup. Today, the brand is owned by RCS MediaGroup S.p.A., one of the largest multimedia groups in Europe, which is itself controlled by Cairo Communication, an Italian company led by entrepreneur Urbano Cairo.
