Papo Amarelo Reserva

Papo Amarelo Reserva is a Portuguese wine produced in the Península de Setúbal region, located south of Lisbon. The brand is inspired by the 'Papo Amarelo' (yellow-throated) songbird frequently found in the local vineyards.

The wine is produced by the Cooperative Santo Isidro de Pegões (Adega de Pegões), which was established in 1958. This cooperative was founded on lands allocated by the Portuguese government to small-scale wine producers as part of a major agricultural colonization project. Today, it is a significant player in the region, known for combining traditional Portuguese grape varieties like Castelão with international ones like Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

The brand and its production are managed by the cooperative under the guidance of renowned chief enologist Jaime Quendera. While several distributors and retailers like Grapedistrict or Casa Santos Lima may handle the commercialization and marketing of the brand in various markets (like the Netherlands), the ultimate ownership remains with the collective of growers forming the Adega de Pegões cooperative.
