Specifically, it bears the 'Abteilung für Kunst' (Art Department) backstamp from the Selb, Bavaria factory. The Hutschenreuther brand was originally founded in 1814 by Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther in Hohenberg an der Eger. However, his son Lorenz Hutschenreuther established a separate factory in Selb in 1857, which became highly famous for its high-quality artistic porcelain and figurines.

In 1969, the two branches of the family business merged to form Hutschenreuther AG. Later, in 2000, the brand was acquired by Rosenthal GmbH. Since 2009, Rosenthal (and consequently the Hutschenreuther brand) has been owned by the Italian Arcturus Group (Sambonet Paderno Industrie S.p.A.). Despite the Italian ownership, the brand maintains its deep Bavarian roots and continues to be synonymous with traditional German porcelain craftsmanship.
