Luxo is a world-renowned lighting brand with a legacy dating back to 1934, when it was founded by Norwegian industrialist Jac Jacobsen. Originally established as an importer of textile machinery in Oslo, the company revolutionized office illumination in 1937 with the invention of the L-1. This iconic balanced-arm task lamp, inspired by human musculature, became a blueprint for functional design and served as the direct inspiration for Pixar Animation Studios' mascot, Luxo Jr.

Historically, Luxo maintained significant production facilities in Norway and Sweden. Following its acquisition by the Glamox Group in 2009, manufacturing operations were integrated into the parent company's broader European network, with key production sites in Norway, Sweden, and Estonia. While historically rooted in Scandinavian craftsmanship, modern supply chain dynamics mean some components or product lines are also produced in China and other global locations to meet international demand.

Today, the brand operates as a key subsidiary of Glamox ASA, a leading Norwegian lighting conglomerate. Luxo continues to focus on ergonomic and energy-efficient lighting solutions, ranging from professional desk lamps and magnifying luminaires for the medical and industrial sectors to decorative Scandinavian-style pendants.
