Founded in London in 2011 by Cassandra Stavrou and Ryan Kohn, Proper (originally known as Propercorn) has grown from a home kitchen experiment involving a cement mixer into one of the UK's leading healthier snack brands. The company initially gained fame for its flavored popcorn before expanding into lentil-based crisps (Properchips) to broaden its market presence.

In 2021, the brand entered a significant new chapter when Exponent Private Equity acquired a majority stake in the business. This move merged Proper with another prominent snack brand, Eat Real, to form a powerhouse in the 'Better-for-You' snacking category. The combined group operated under the name Warp Snacks until early 2025, when the parent company officially rebranded as Proper Snacks to leverage its strongest brand identity across Europe.

Today, the brand maintains its commitment to ethical production as a certified B Corporation. While the company's innovation and creative hub remains in London, the majority of its manufacturing takes place at its high-tech 'Snacktory' located in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. This facility allowed the brand to transition from an outsourced model to owning its production, ensuring higher quality control and efficiency for its global distribution.
