Brussels Airlines

Brussels Airlines is the flag carrier of Belgium, headquartered at Brussels Airport in Zaventem. The airline was established in 2006 following the merger of SN Brussels Airlines and Virgin Express, effectively succeeding the defunct national carrier Sabena. Its heritage is deeply rooted in Belgian aviation history, often symbolized by its IATA code 'SN', which it inherited from Sabena.

Since 2017, Brussels Airlines has been 100% owned by the Lufthansa Group, a major German aviation holding company. This acquisition followed a phased integration process that began in 2008 when Lufthansa first acquired a minority stake. Today, it operates as a network carrier within the Lufthansa Group, maintaining its Belgian identity while benefiting from the group's global infrastructure, technical support, and membership in the Star Alliance.
