Passalacqua is a prestigious Italian coffee brand that epitomizes the Neapolitan espresso tradition. Founded in 1948 by Samuele Passalacqua in Naples, the brand was born from a modest beginning with a small five-kilogram roasting machine. Over decades, it has grown from a local favorite to an international symbol of quality, famously endorsed by writer Mario Soldati as "the best coffee in Italy."

The brand's identity is deeply rooted in the craftsmanship of coffee roasting. While it sources high-quality Arabica and Robusta beans from 14 different countries—including Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, and Vietnam—all final production and roasting take place at the company's 5,750-square-meter facility in Casavatore, near Naples. This ensures that every blend maintains the specific dark, intense, and low-acidity profile that characterizes authentic Southern Italian coffee.

Passalacqua remains a family-owned enterprise, currently managed by the fourth generation of the Passalacqua family. The company operates under the name S. Passalacqua S.p.A. and has refused to sacrifice its artisanal standards for mass-market industrialization, maintaining a production capacity that balances modern demand with traditional slow-roasting techniques. Its iconic logo, a winking Native American boy licking his lips, was inspired by a young boy's reaction to tasting his first sip of their coffee and has since become one of Italy's most recognizable trademarks.
