Old Dutch is a historic brand originally established in 1905 by the Cudahy Packing Company in Chicago, Illinois. Initially famous for its scouring cleanser with the iconic Dutch woman logo, the brand expanded across North America through various corporate ownerships, including Purex and Henkel.

In Canada, the brand's household cleaning segment became a distinct entity. Since 1980, Old Dutch cleaning and laundry products in the Canadian market have been manufactured and managed by Lavo Inc., a specialized company headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. In recent years, Lavo was acquired by KIK Consumer Products, a major global manufacturer of household and personal care brands.

While the American brand Old Dutch Foods (famous for potato chips) shares the name and a similar logo, it is a completely different company from the cleaning brand. Today, Old Dutch Absolute Clean products are primarily manufactured in Canada, specifically at facilities in Quebec, to serve the domestic Canadian retail market.
