Laboratoires Filorga is a prestigious French skincare brand rooted in the field of aesthetic medicine. It was founded in 1978 by Dr. Michel Tordjman, a French doctor of aesthetic medicine and cellular biologist who originally developed injectable hyaluronic acid and NCEF (New Cellular Encapsulated Factors) for clinical use. The brand is famous for pioneering 'Medi-Cosmetique,' a range of over-the-counter products designed to deliver the efficacy of professional aesthetic procedures through daily topical skincare.
While the brand maintains its French heritage and research facilities, it has expanded into a global powerhouse. In 2019, the American multinational consumer goods giant Colgate-Palmolive acquired Filorga for approximately €1.5 billion ($1.69 billion). This acquisition was a strategic move by Colgate-Palmolive to bolster its presence in the high-growth, high-margin premium skincare sector. Today, Filorga products are sold in over 60 countries and are particularly successful in European and Asian markets, benefiting from the extensive distribution and marketing resources of its ultimate owner.
