Ooni is a globally recognized leader in the outdoor pizza oven market, credited with inventing the world's first portable wood-pellet-fired pizza oven. The brand was founded in 2012 by Kristian Tapaninaho and Darina Garland after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Originally named 'Uuni' (the Finnish word for oven), the company rebranded to Ooni in 2018 to ensure better global pronunciation and trademarking.
While the products are designed and engineered at the company's headquarters in Edinburgh, Scotland, mass production is primarily carried out in specialized factories in China. This manufacturing strategy allows the brand to maintain high-quality stainless steel construction while keeping the product accessible to residential customers. The Karu 12 model shown is a multi-fuel variant, capable of running on wood, charcoal, or gas, and is a cornerstone of their portable product line.
