SABO lawn tractors (Rasentraktoren)

SABO is a prestigious German brand with a long-standing history in the production of high-quality lawn care equipment. Founded in 1932 by Heinrich Sanner and Walter Born in Gummersbach, Germany, the company initially focused on mineral oil products before transitioning to garden machinery. In 1954, SABO introduced its first motorized lawn mower, eventually becoming a benchmark for premium mowers and lawn tractors in Europe.

For nearly three decades (from 1991 to 2020), SABO was a subsidiary of the American agricultural giant John Deere. In 2020, it was acquired by the Munich-based private equity firm Mutares. However, in September 2023, the brand underwent a significant transition to local ownership. It was purchased by SABO Holding GmbH, led by the company's long-time managing director Lars Daniel and local investor Christoph Schindler.

Today, SABO remains headquartered and anchored in Gummersbach-Hunstig, Germany. Most of its core product line, including its iconic walk-behind mowers and specialized garden tools, continues to be produced at its Gummersbach plant, maintaining its reputation for German engineering and innovative battery-powered solutions.
