Caesar Cardini's is a historic brand synonymous with the creation of the Caesar salad. The dressing was originally conceptualized by Caesar Cardini, an Italian-American restaurateur, in 1924 at his restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico. Due to the salad's immense popularity, Cardini moved to Los Angeles and began bottling the dressing for commercial sale in 1948, establishing the brand's American roots.
Over the decades, the brand's ownership shifted. Following Caesar's death, his daughter Rosa Maria Cardini led the company until selling it in 1988. In 1996, the brand was acquired by the T. Marzetti Company, which is a key subsidiary of the Lancaster Colony Corporation.
Today, while the product is distributed globally and remains a staple in supermarkets like those in Denmark, it is primarily manufactured in the United States. In European markets, production may occur under various licensing agreements, though the brand identity remains centered on its original 1924 recipe and North American heritage.
