Ragwear vegan streetwear

Ragwear is identified as a pioneering vegan streetwear brand that originated in the late 1990s. Founded by Holger Brodkorb in Wiesbaden, Germany, the brand was born out of the local skateboarding and snowboarding culture. Its initial goal was to provide high-quality, aesthetic, and affordable alternatives to the skate-inspired styles of the era.

In the mid-2000s, motivated by environmental concerns regarding traditional manufacturing—particularly the chemical impact of denim production—the brand transitioned its focus toward sustainability and ethical labor practices. By 2015, Ragwear became the first streetwear brand to be certified as 100% vegan by PETA, ensuring that no animal products are used in its materials (avoiding leather, wool, silk, and animal-based glues).

While the brand's design and operational headquarters were eventually relocated to Prague, Czech Republic, to take advantage of the city's creative energy, its manufacturing is primarily concentrated in China. Ragwear maintains long-term partnerships with specific producers in ethical, GOTS-certified environments to ensure social responsibility standards are met throughout the supply chain.
