Glad Bake & Cooking Paper is a widely recognized household brand specializing in food preparation and protection. The Glad brand has a unique history that bridges two continents; it was originally launched in the United States in 1963 by Union Carbide with the introduction of polyethylene food wrap. Interestingly, while the brand was popularized in the US, the foundational technology for its signature 'Glad Wrap' was invented in Australia by research chemist Douglas Lyons Ford at the Union Carbide plant in Sydney.

In Australia and New Zealand, Glad has been a kitchen staple since 1966. Corporate ownership has shifted over the decades; the brand was divested by Union Carbide in 1985 and was eventually consolidated under the American giant The Clorox Company following its acquisition of First Brands Corporation in 1998.

Today, Glad is an American-owned brand headquartered in Oakland, California. Manufacturing occurs globally to support regional markets. While a significant portion of the production for waste bags and wraps occurs in the United States, Canada (specifically the Orangeville plant for compostables), and China (Guangzhou), products sold in the Oceania region are often managed and distributed by local subsidiaries like Clorox Australia and Clorox New Zealand.
