Knorr is one of the world's most recognizable food brands, best known for its range of stock cubes and dehydrated products. The company was founded in 1838 by Carl Heinrich Theodor Knorr in Heilbronn, Germany, where he initially experimented with drying vegetables and seasonings to preserve their nutritional value and flavor. This pioneering work led to the introduction of the first bouillon cube in 1912, a product that revolutionized home cooking by making high-quality stock easily accessible.
In 2000, Knorr became part of the Unilever portfolio following Unilever’s acquisition of Bestfoods. Currently, Knorr is Unilever's largest-selling brand, distributed in nearly 90 countries. Due to this massive global footprint, manufacturing occurs in numerous regional facilities. In Europe, production is often based in Germany and Poland, while in the UK, the brand has historically had a strong manufacturing presence in locations like Welwyn Garden City to serve the local market.
