KiMs is an iconic Danish snack brand that trace its origins back to 1961. It was originally launched by Odense Marcipanfabrik in Odense, Denmark, as a way to diversify their production throughout the year beyond the seasonal marzipan demand. Initially registered simply as 'Kim', the name was adjusted to 'KiMs' to avoid trademark conflicts with a German cigarette brand. The salted peanuts launched in 1963 were the first step in what would become a dominant market presence in Denmark.

Today, KiMs is the leading brand in the Danish snacks and chips market. The brand's primary manufacturing facility has been located in Søndersø on the island of Funen, Denmark, since 1971. High-quality production and local distribution have helped maintain its status as a staple of Danish 'hygge'.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several corporate hands. After being owned by Nora Industrier, it eventually became part of the Norwegian conglomerate Orkla Group. In 2013, the business was reorganized under Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Danmark A/S, which remains a fully owned subsidiary of Orkla ASA, headquartered in Oslo, Norway. Orkla is one of the largest consumer goods companies in the Nordic region, ensuring KiMs benefit from extensive international distribution while retaining its deep-seated Danish identity.
