Poiana Alune chocolate bar

Poiana is an iconic Romanian chocolate brand with a rich history dating back to 1899, when the 'First Candy and Chocolate Factory in Transylvania' (Hess) was established in Brașov. Over the 20th century, the factory underwent various name changes, including 'Cibo,' before adopting the brand name Poiana in 1989. In 1994, the company was acquired by Kraft Foods, which integrated it into its global network.

In 2009, strategic shifts led the parent company (now known as Mondelēz International) to close the historic production facility in Brașov and relocate the manufacturing of Poiana products primarily to Bulgaria (specifically at the Svoge plant). Despite this move, Poiana remains one of the most recognized and beloved chocolate brands in Romania, maintaining its traditional recipes and strong market presence under the ownership of one of the world's largest snack companies.
