Malaco is a prestigious Swedish confectionery brand with a long-standing history dating back to 1934. Originally established as Malmö Lakrits Compani in Malmö, Sweden, the brand name was derived from the company's initials. Malaco began as a pioneer in the production of licorice and has since evolved into a dominant player in the Nordic candy market, known for iconic products like Swedish Fish and Gott & Blandat.
Over the decades, ownership of Malaco has transitioned through several major food conglomerates, including Kraft General Foods and the Dutch group CSM. In 2012, through the merger of Leaf and Cloetta, Malaco became part of Cloetta AB, one of the leading confectionery companies in Europe. Today, Malaco products, including the Chewit range shown here, are widely distributed across Scandinavia, the Netherlands, and internationally, maintaining their reputation for high-quality, flavorful chewy treats.
While the brand has historical links to various European facilities, contemporary production for its primary Nordic lines is concentrated in Sweden and other Cloetta manufacturing units in Slovakia and the Netherlands. The Chewit line features soft, fruit-focused textures that continue the brand's tradition of innovation in the sugar confectionery segment.
