Perugina is an iconic Italian chocolate brand with a heritage dating back to 1907. It was founded in Perugia, Italy, by Francesco Buitoni, Annibale Spagnoli, Leone Ascoli, and Francesco Andreani. The brand gained international fame for its high-quality pralines and the famous Baci (kisses) line, which was introduced in 1922.

In 1988, the brand was acquired by the Swiss multinational corporation Nestlé. Today, Perugina operates as a subsidiary of Nestlé under its Italian division, Nestlé Italiana S.p.A. While the administrative headquarters for Nestlé Italiana are located in Milan (Assago), the entire production of Perugina chocolate remains centered in the San Sisto plant in Perugia. This facility is recognized as a center of excellence for chocolate within the Nestlé global network, and the 'Made in Italy' label remains a core part of its brand identity.
