Banana Boat is a globally recognized sun care brand that originated in Miami Beach, Florida, in 1976. It was founded by Robert Bell, a local lifeguard who sought to create a sunscreen that was less greasy and more consumer-friendly than the medicinal-smelling products available at the time. The brand's signature playful name and bright packaging helped it gain rapid popularity among families.

Over the decades, ownership of Banana Boat transitioned through several major corporations. It was acquired by Playtex Products in 1995, which later became part of Energizer Holdings in 2007. In 2015, Energizer spun off its personal care division into a new standalone company called Edgewell Personal Care, which currently owns and manages the brand.

Today, Banana Boat products are manufactured in various facilities to support its global distribution. While a significant portion of its production occurs in the United States, manufacturing is also carried out in other regions, including some specialized production in Asia and North America to meet regional market demands.
